It all started on Zoe’s couch in Los Angeles.

Allie and Zoe were looking for outfits for yet another wedding, uninspired by the options they saw on other rental platforms, and with a graveyard of dresses in their closets that they had already worn to past events.

They started imagining a different reality: what if you could rent a dress from the friend of a friend that you saw on Instagram? Or from the fashionable girl you follow on TikTok? What if you could also lend out the pieces you had hanging in your own closet, and make money back without having to part with them completely?

And just like that, BARO was born.

What started as a simple idea on Zoe’s couch has grown into a community of thousands of women who are renting and lending on the BARO app. With a focus on women’s formalwear, users are renting everything from one-of-a-kind vintage pieces, to dresses right of the Dries Van Noten runway, to this season’s Zimmermann collection.

BARO believes that good clothes deserve to be worn, and we make it easy to share what’s hanging in your closet with someone else who will love it for the night.

We’re live in the continental U.S. via 2-day USPS shipping, with local pick up and drop off launching very soon.

More than anything, BARO is about community. It’s about getting inspired, feeling incredible, utilizing your closet as an asset, and being the best dressed at every event.
